Imperfections Can Cause Physical and Psychological Issues

There are many causes for imperfections in your teeth. These imperfections may include chipped or cracked teeth, misshapen or broken teeth, and decaying or missing teeth. There are just as many causes of these imperfections as there are imperfections themselves. Some causes include genetics, injuries or accidents, mistreatment or improper oral hygiene, just to name a few. No matter the cause and resulting effect that has robbed you of the confidence to smile, you can get it back.

What Options Do You Have?

When you have lost teeth from damage or accidents, you are left with a hole that may keep you from openly enjoying life. When you have lost one tooth or all of them, the result is likely the same; you avoid situations that cause you to show your teeth. From covering your mouth when you smile or speak to shying away from people altogether, you keep your teeth out of sight. Your smile has turned into a point of embarrassment, and your smile has faded. Dental implants can alleviate the uncomfortable effect and give you a natural looking smile to show off to the world.

Dental implants are available in a single tooth implant, multiple teeth implants, mini dental implants, and all-on-four implants; allowing you to have teeth that look and feel like the real thing. Each of these different implant options will provide a unique way to replace your smile.

What Are Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium rods which are called abutments, that are implanted into your gum area and attached into the bone. The titanium is biodegradable making it perfect for use in dental procedures. It will allow your bone and gums to grow and bond to it as it would to the root of your natural tooth. This makes the implant a permanent solution to lost teeth and gives structure back to the bone. To this abutment, a denture is attached. This denture will become your new tooth and will be taken care of as you would your natural teeth. This care should include flossing and brushing just like usual. The process will be relatively the same for all of the different options with the exception of the all-on-four implants. The all-on-four implants are different because instead of individual abutments for each tooth, there are only four abutments implanted into your gums on the top and four on the bottom. To these abutments, a full arch of teeth will be attached. This type of implant is an improvement on traditional dentures because it becomes a permanent part of your mouth, which alleviates many of the problems associated with conventional dentures. Following is a description of each different type of dental implant.

Single and Multiple Teeth Implants

Single and multi teeth implants are individual implants to replace single or multiple lost teeth. Using the procedure described the abutment will be placed for each tooth, and the denture will be attached. This type of implant is a suitable replacement for teeth lost due to accidents or when one or more teeth have been damaged. They will blend with your natural teeth and become a permanent part of your smile. They will also provide stability to your remaining teeth by eliminating the hole left by those lost.

Mini Implants

Mini implants are precisely what they imply. They are a smaller abutment implanted and the corresponding denture attached. The difference between mini dental implants and their larger counterparts is the size and method of the implant. Where regular implants are affixed with one abutment, mini implants are affixed with two pieces. The first piece which is the rod with a rounded head is implanted into the bone, to this is attached a socket and O-ring. This socket is the part that the denture will be attached to. These implants work well for people with smaller teeth or narrower gaps where teeth have been lost. The result is the same though, leaving you with a natural-looking smile that can last a lifetime with proper oral care.

All-On-Four Implants

All-on-four implants are full mouth implants. For this implant type, four titanium abutments will be implanted into the bone on the top and four on the bottom of your mouth. To these abutments will be attached to the upper and lower arches. These arches are full rows of teeth that will become a permanent replacement for all of your teeth. These implants provide a significant advantage over traditional dentures because they are a permanent fixture in your mouth instead of one you have to remove nightly for cleaning. Because they do not move they also eliminate the sores and discomfort many will experience with traditional dentures. One final advantage of this type of implant over regular dentures is that you will be able to eat the foods you are accustomed to without the limitations seen with traditional dentures that are merely held in place with an adhesive.

The Results and Benefits of Dental Implants

Your new implants will provide some results that most people do not know about. While returning your smile and giving you back your confidence is reason enough to want to get implants there are other benefits as well. Because implants connect to your jawbone and become a replacement root for your teeth, they help maintain the bone structure that deteriorates in time after a tooth is lost. This bone loss will cause sagging in the facial muscles around the mouth. This sagging will have an aging effect on your face.

Another advantage of getting implants is that your natural teeth will not suffer the consequences of tooth loss. As mentioned above when a tooth is lost the bone structure where that tooth was, deteriorates. As this happens, your natural teeth will start to lean towards the opening left by your tooth. This movement can cause further dental problems and more confidence issues. Making implants an ideal solution all around.

Teeth in a Day

While all of this may sound overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be. Many people avoid getting dentures or tooth replacements because they do not want to face the world without teeth. This fear is especially noticed in patients needing full dentures. In the past it has been that to get dentures you must have your teeth pulled, let your mouth heal, and then place the dentures. Thanks to new advances and qualified dentists, this is not the case anymore. Enter Dr. Joshua Ignatowicz in Henderson, NV. and his Teeth in a Day program. Because of the dental facility and the training that Dr. Ignatowicz has, you can literally get your smile back in a day. Here is how it is done; your appointment will start with x-rays and exams to determine your overall oral health. After this examination, Dr. Ignatowicz will discuss your options with you. When you have decided on the right course of action your procedure will consist of local anesthesia, then the placement of the abutments to which your dentures will be affixed. The best part is that when you leave the clinic, you will be wearing a brand-new permanent smile.
