Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth and support adjacent teeth. The most common dental bridge comprises a single unit made from a dental material cemented into place. Dental bridges are made of porcelain fused to a metal base, and they can also be removable. But all in all, the main benefit of a bridge is that it allows you to eat and drink normally, which is essential for a healthy smile. Some common types of dental bridges you dentist may recommend are:

Traditional Dental Bridge

This is the most commonly used dental bridge available, and it is very popular among many dental patients. It consists of one dental crown attached to a metal frame containing fake teeth. The crowns attached act as supporting teeth, while the fake teeth bridge the gap in your mouth. The good thing about using this type of dental bridge is the strength they provide.

Maryland Bonded Bridge

The Maryland bonded bridge also uses the same structure as the traditional dental bridge. But instead of using crowns to anchor the bridge, it uses a porcelain or metal framework. This means that the adjacent teeth will not need to be modified in any way to get the bridge. Instead, they are held to the backside of the supporting teeth.

Cantilever Dental Bridge

This is yet another dental bridge, and it only uses one anchor tooth. They are mostly used in the front teeth. This is because when they are used at the backside of your teeth, they will place too much stress or strain on one tooth. The best part is that this dental bridge can save money and time when set correctly.

Implant-Supported Bridge

This bridge is similar to traditional bridges, but the only difference is that they are supported using dental implants. They are suitable for bridging large gaps in your mouth and have the ability to restore your teeth’ functionality. They are also strong and durable.
