Getting veneers can be a great way to upgrade your smile. Whether you have crooked teeth that you wish were a little bit straighter or a smile that’s not quite as white as you want it to be, veneers can be a simple and convenient fix. That being said, veneers are not always the best idea in every case. Here are a few things to consider if you are thinking about getting veneers.

The Downsides To Veneers

Probably the single most cited downside to getting veneers is the cost. Depending on the part of the country where you live, veneers can range several hundred to over a thousand dollars each. And, given that you will almost certainly need several veneers, that means your out of pocket costs can easily exceed $10,000.
To make matters worse, veneers are usually not covered by dental insurance because they are deemed to be a cosmetic procedure. Of course, depending on your situation, this may not be the case for you, but it’s a good thing to keep in mind.

Another factor is that of increased sensitivity. If you have highly sensitive teeth, getting veneers could wind up making the issue worse. To this end, we suggest that you alert us to any heightened sensitivity so we can discuss the matter with you before you get the veneers.
