What are My Implant Options?
As dental implants become more in demand, different implant options become available. Every smile is different, so you want to pick the dental implant that is right for you.
- Single Tooth Implant – a single tooth implant is a traditional dental implant can be used to replace a missing tooth or just a few missing teeth.
- Mini Dental Implant – Mini dental implants (MDI) are smaller than traditional implants. They can also be used to fix a missing tooth and can fit into narrower spaces.
- All-on-Four – Full arch up upper or lower teeth to replace multiple teeth at once.
- Teeth in a Day – A permanent dental implant solution offered by Dr. Ignatowicz. Teeth in a Day leaves you with a brand new smile in just one day.
Which Implant Option is Best for Me?
Choosing the right option depends on your needs.
Are your missing one tooth or just a couple? Is there an unwanted gap that you want to be fixed? The best solution for you will likely be a Single tooth implant or an MDI. Single tooth implants are anchored with a titanium rod in your jaw bone that becomes the root for your new tooth. MDI’s are also made of titanium, but they are available in smaller sizes to fit narrower spaces or flawlessly match the smile of a patient with smaller teeth. Because MDI’s use less titanium, they are usually more affordable.
Is your issue more than one tooth? If you have several missing or damaged teeth, All-on-Four or Teeth in a Day may be the right option for you. All-on-Four means exactly what the name implies–all of your new teeth can be included in one dental bridge. Unlike dentures, these bridges are implanted into your gum bone leaving you with a comfortable and secure smile.
Teeth in a Day can also fix the issue of several missing, decayed, or misaligned teeth within 1 day. An arch is placed and secured with 6-8 titanium rods, depending on your jawbone. This creates an abutment (a support system for your teeth) and once it is fused with your jawbone it becomes the root for your new teeth!
Life After Implants
Dental implants function like your natural teeth. They are secure, stay in place, and don’t make noise when chewing or biting. Once your implant is set, you can brush your teeth and floss around your implant just like your would your natural teeth. They no not cause the discomfort of dentures, they do not decay or get cavities, and can make an imperfect smile look perfect in no time!
